Frequently Asked Questions
Find answers to common questions about Framebatch.
What is Framebatch Studio?
Studio is our browser-based photo layout editor. Drag in your photos, pick a layout, and export — no install, no design skills required. It runs on any modern browser on Mac, Windows, Linux, or iPad.
Do I need an account to use Studio?
You can try Studio without an account — exports will include a watermark. Sign up for a free account to get 3 clean, watermark-free exports per day. Pro subscribers get unlimited exports.
Are my photos private?
Yes. Studio processes everything locally in your browser — your photos never leave your device. We don't upload, store, or have access to your images.
What formats can I export?
Free accounts can export JPG at 72 DPI. Pro subscribers unlock PNG, PSD, and DPI settings up to 300 — ideal for print and high-resolution work.
Does Studio work offline?
Studio needs an internet connection to load the first time, but image processing happens in your browser. The macOS desktop app works fully offline with periodic license checks every 48 hours.
What's the desktop app for?
The macOS desktop app handles advanced PSD-template workflows for users who want to integrate Framebatch with Photoshop. It's included with any paid subscription. Most users only need Studio.
Will Studio or the desktop app come to Windows?
Studio already runs on Windows, Mac, Linux, and iPad through the browser. A native Windows desktop app is on our roadmap.
Troubleshooting
Solutions to common issues you might encounter while using Framebatch.
Studio won't load or hangs on startup
- Check your internet connection — Studio needs to load before it can work offline
- Try refreshing the page (Cmd/Ctrl + Shift + R for a hard reload)
- Disable browser extensions that might block scripts (ad blockers, content blockers)
- Try a different browser — Chrome, Edge, Safari, and Firefox are all supported
- Clear your browser cache for studio.framebatch.com
Photos won't upload or drag-and-drop isn't working
- Confirm the format is supported: JPEG, PNG, WebP, or GIF
- Check the file size — Studio supports up to 20MB per image
- Make sure you have fewer than 20 photos uploaded at once
- If drag-and-drop fails, use the upload button to pick files manually
- Some browser privacy modes block file uploads — try a normal window
Export isn't downloading or looks wrong
- Check your browser's download settings — some browsers block multiple downloads
- If the export looks low-res, you may be on the free tier (72 DPI JPG only)
- Pro subscribers: confirm you're signed in to unlock PNG, PSD, and high-DPI options
- If you hit the daily export limit on the free tier, wait until tomorrow or upgrade
- Try exporting again after a hard refresh if a layout looks corrupted
Studio is slow or laggy
- Reduce the number of uploaded photos — 20 is the recommended max
- Use smaller source images where possible (under 5MB each is ideal)
- Close other browser tabs to free up memory
- Disable animations in Studio settings if you don't need them
- Try a Chromium-based browser for the best performance
Subscription / license verification issues
- Confirm your subscription is active on the account page
- Sign out and sign back in to refresh your session
- If you recently upgraded, give it a minute and refresh — webhooks can take a moment
- Desktop app users: check the 2-device limit on your account
- Contact support if you're still locked out after trying the above
Desktop app: Photoshop doesn't launch automatically
- Make sure Photoshop CC 2024+ is installed in the default location
- Launch Photoshop manually once before starting Framebatch
- Ensure Photoshop has permission to run scripts (System Settings → Privacy)
- Restart both Framebatch and your Mac if it persists
Desktop app: PSD template validation errors
- Templates must have artboards to be processed correctly
- Image placeholder layers should be named Image_1, Image_2, etc.
- Confirm the PSD is a valid file and not compressed/corrupted
- Avoid special characters in the template file path
